A wonderful Friday night out on ‘Faith’ a 66ft teak sailing ship with some lovely customers and Lawson’s crew along with our yearly Wine Festival in Marlborough. Great weekend with fantastic weather and wines!
Lawson’s Dry Hills Gewurztraminer 2010 and Chardonnay 2008 were both served at last weeks “Highly Confidential” events! The first one catered by Ruth Pretty at Park Road Post in Wgtn, attendees included top International TV media from France, UK, Canada, Australia, USA, China and Japan along with the dwarf cast of the Hobbit. The 2nd event catered by Martin Bosley inlcuded all the above plus our Prime Minister and Gvoernment officials, NZTE and Toursim NZ along with domestic media. Some good press re wines i hope! Well received we believe anyway
An amazing tour with the Family of XII (www.familyoftwelve.co.nz) with a Masterclass held at the Botanical in Melbourne – fantastic venue a ‘must do’! Followed by a dinner at PM24 in the heart of the CBD with VIP guests and media – again great venue, delicious food and well looked after. We then flew out to Singapore for 4-5 days of lunches, dinners, sommelier tastings, cooking classes and for myself a trade day with our Singapore Distributors, this resulting in torrential rains (pic attached) in which we ended up on esky lids trying to salvage our sodden feet! Venues included Coriander Leaf with wonderful chef Samia, Imperial Treasure with fantastic duck dishes, Salt Grill for our ‘walkabout tasting’ for 140 paying guests with the most incredible views on the 54th floor central CBD Singapore.
HK began with a Masterclass of 2 wines from each of the FXII with media and top sommeliers, food and beverage managers – very happy with 26 of these guests as with the HK Wine and Spirits Expo on it was swamped with wine events in particular Bordeaux and Champagne Houses. We held a wonderful 5 course dinner at Scala in the Renaissance Hotel (highly recommended) and proceeded to then have 3 days at the HK Wine And Spirits Fair with thousands of other brands. Amazing volumes of people and suppliers and extremely happy with the response to us. Being the only NZ stand other than Otu and Trinity Hill we did seem to be sought out and had some extremely interested trade and consumers over the 3 days. Looking forward to the next trip as craving yum cha and pigeon and chilli crab already!
Along with some fantastic Wineshow results for Chardonnay 2008 and Gewurztraminer 2010, our Pinot Noirs seem to be leaping out of the judges glasses with all their wonderfulness!
